An antique South Persian Bakhtiyari rug with a rare design probably inspired by antique Caucasian “Dragon Carpets”. The format suggests the carpet was woven by Armenian weavers. The navy field contains two large, brick red palmettes and green stylized dragon motifs. A brick red border frames the field. A powerful example of Persian textile folk art. Excellent general condition with minor crease wear. Wool foundation. A carpet that combines collectable and decorative qualities.
