A late 19th century carpet from the Heriz district in northwest Persia’s Azerbaijan Province. Heriz carpets of this age are often referred to colloquially as antique “Serapi” carpets.
The tomato red open field contains a large coral and green medallion with coral pendants. Ivory corner spandrels with large sky blue and green leaves and a navy blue leaf and flowerhead border frame the field.
Very good condition with minor restoration. This photo was taken prior to restoration being completed.
