Mahajaran Sarouk rugs represent the transitional period of Sarouk rug manufacture in central Persia’s Sultanabad Province, following the Fereghan Sarouk period and preceding the “Commercial Sarouk” period of the mid 1920s and 1930s. The sparse but resoundingly elegant decoration in many Mahajaran Sarouk rugs gives them a distinctive appearance.
The majority of Mahajaran Sarouk rugs feature navy blue fields. They are generally finely woven and extremely durable.
