Antique carpets from the Heriz district in northwest Persia that feature this distinctive design with a central medallion and pendants that somewhat resemble pinwheels are often attributed to the village of Bakshaish. In this example the ivory field contains a navy medallion and is framed by coral and teal blue corner spandrels and a brick red Turtle border.
